Giving Thanks

We had Ani and James, and Ani's 10 year old niece Ava over for Thanksgiving. Lindsay was far too busy with her twenty-seven or so papers so cooking fell to me, which is just the way I like it. We had turkey breast, which was the size of a rump roast and took about three times longer than we expected but was perfect, bourbon sweet potatoes, french beans cooked with bacon, mashed potatoes, stuffing (although there was nothing to stuf it into so I suppose it was "dressing"), cranberry relish by Ani, pumpkin cheesecake and gingerbread that Lindsay made. Bourbon for drinking supplied by Ani and James.

Games were played, food consumed, fun had. We are thankful for friends and the opportunity to spend time with them.

Yeah, well, a lot of people are thankful for you two, too. Especially since you're coming home for Christmas!!! Yay!

so, so, thankful. although this half of the blog cannot countenance the one N spelling of ms. bluhm's name. she will forever and always be anni.

and her niece will probably be ava, rather than ana, for at least that long, although i'm guessing my handwriting on the "welcome ava!" sign on the kitchen blackboard is less than clear, and that you were distracted by the three hand-turkeys rendered there in colored chalk. and possibly by the point in the evening during my third manhattan when i called her "eva."
