she takes a break

from stuffing in the pastry to say:

alors! the france is magnificent.

i had forgotten that they actually say, voila! here. its zonderful.

that is, wonderful. french keyboard: not zonderful.

anyhow. love to all of you at home. i think of you all as i drink rose on the terrace each night. the wine tour was lovely and i stocked up for the journey. i think my favorite thing are our lunchtime piqueniques with the baguettes and jambon 'and usually some chocolat).

vive la! xoxoxo.

ung.

lindsay has mad sporadic contact as she frolics through france. she's taken a wine tour and bought several bottles of ridiculously inexpensive wines, one of which she drank in a vineyard in the shade of the grapes. she sounds like she's having a fab time.

her boyfriend is currently suffering through some allergy/headcold thing and sounds a bit like harvey fierstein after gargling vinegar.

i knew him when

he was a commitment-phobic undergraduate theatre major.

now he is a budding rock star and international heart-throb.

and, getting married. congratulations, intrepid zachy and julia.

ridiculous. and twenty-five dollars.

dilemma.

i bought these slightly ridiculous shoes that i could potentially wear with the dress for jenni's wedding. they were way on sale.

i also bought some practical and slightly boring ones. which go with two other dresses of mine and a fancy pair of pants. they match good. i like them. but they tend towards boring.

will dark brown satin look weird with the medium-toned olive?

will the gigantic sequined flowers ruin the hemline of this dress?

will i learn to walk in these slight-platforms well enough to be part of the Parade?

are they just plain tacky? do i spoil a designer dress with sequined sunflowers?

will anyone even see my shoes?

if i choose ridiculous, do i keep the practical ones? or assume that when i need some brown satin dress shoes i'll find something that stirs my heart more (these brown shoes were marked down, too--forty bucks, man. i may not be that lucky again).

also, jay, i went to the mac counter and had them teach me about eye shadow. so i won't be the only nature-faced anti-glam bridesmaid. oh, it's on.

why i sometimes have difficulty leaving the apartment.

Sunday, May 07, 2006

wee.

we ordered paint samples so we could see what a few shades would look like in the bedroom (current plan: one wall deep red, other walls a sort of grey-green-brown) and they sent us:

tiny box!

tiny paint!

tiny paint trays and tiny rollers

i squealed.

dude!

i almost totally forgot!

happy one year apartment anniversary to us!

ole'!

tiny day one.

so, the first day of tiny theatre was a grand success. they squoze so many people into the small audience area that they had to get floor-seat-cushions and the a/c was overwhelmed. our ten-minute piece, in which i sing a sea-shanty, was well-recieved, even though i blew a line i've never had trouble with and then said "crap" into the microphone.

we went out afterwards and ran into some of my day job compatriots, who were all on a tear following the news that our company is being bought by microsoft. (linked article is old, but no one could publically confirm the acquisition until today.) for those of you who are tempted to say that i now work for two satans, no comment.

shortly i'll be able to shop at the company store. let me know if you need any schwag. parents? MSN beer coozie?
